The Choice to Trust God

Mamee Monster or Oreos? Blue shirt or red shirt? Which game should I play? Which friend should I hang out with?

Everyday, we make many choices—some small, some big. Some are easy, others can feel really hard. Before making these choices, have you ever wondered, “What does God want me to choose?”

Making decisions can be confusing, so we naturally worry we’ll make the wrong choices. But, God doesn’t want us to be anxious—He wants us to trust Him.

When we only think about choosing what’s “the best”, like the best toy, the best phone, or the best school, we forget that God already knows what’s the best for us. He may not give us “the best” by the world’s standards; He gives us the best of what we need to be the best Christians we can be.

The Bible reminds us in Psalm 37:4, “Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Loving and pleasing God first helps us choose what’s right and leads us to what’s truly good for us.

Whatever decision you have to make next, pause and pray. Ask God, “What would You choose?”, then trust that He will guard and guide your heart. The best choices we make are the ones God decides for us.

Family Altar

Use these discussion questions and our prayer as a guide for your family altar.

Parents can lead the prayer and invite their children to repeat after them or encourage their children to take the lead, making family altar time a shared journey of faith.

Discussion Questions:

  • In times of need, do you go to God first?

  • Do you choose God even before making any decisions?

  • What can you do to be better at letting God choose for you?

Prayer in Words:

In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray.

Thank You for loving us and helping us make choices.

Please guide us so that our decisions make You happy.

Help us be grateful for everything You have provided, and trust Your way always.

Hallelujah, Amen.
